Welcome to the Electrical Measurements on Electronic Materials (EM2) / Molecular Aggregation Analysis laboratory at Kyoto University Institute for Chemical Research. Here, we explore the structure and electronic properties of organic semiconductor thin films. We look at how molecules assemble, orient, and order in the solid state - and how the molecular arrangements influence the density of energy states relevant to electrical conduction.
Molecular thin film electronic devices are grown from highly purified materials in ultrahigh vacuum, and electrical conductance and photoconductivity measurements measured in situ under carefully controlled experimental conditions. Free from the influence of atmospheric contamination, our aim is to discover new details about the injection, generation, and transport of charge in organic semiconductors.
